Hello Everyone

Postby seekingpresence » Wed Nov 18, 2009 9:13 pm

Hello everyone. I figured I should introduce myself considering I plan on having a long stay here. I have been dabbling with pursuing a spiritual practice for some time now and I have played around with meditation in the past. It wasn't until a few days ago that I decided to get more disciplined in my meditative practice.

Right now I'm learning how to use mindfulness meditation to dive into awareness. I have an actual time for a traditional meditation session (usually 15-30 minutes in length) and I also practice being mindful throughout the work day. I've learned that it's very hard for me to keep focus for more than a few seconds at a time. But I'm grateful to even be able to do that. I know that this is a learned practice and over time I will become better and better at it. I don't mind being patient.

I'm here to learn more about meditation and more about awareness. I want to expand my knowledge and experience of just being.

By the sound of it, you are in the right place my friend. Welcome!

I do not mean to discourage any practice, so please don't take my response to your question topic in such a way. I think it is excellent that you practice mindfulness and it is one of the most direct approaches out there. So please do continue to practice and let us know if you have any questions or something to share.

Meditation practices are supposed to be very natural and perfectly clear, but it is the ideas around meditation and the reasons from which we often think we are doing meditation that are misconceptions and limit our perception. We are here to clear up these misconceptions gently and through experiential understanding.

Have a good day :).

Love,
Bentinho.

I was not discouraged at all. I'm open to all opinions and I take to heart the ones that I believe will help me along my journey. I really respect your opinion. You seem to have a lot of wisdom. And I have continued my mindfulness meditation practice. I've had mixed results with it. Some days I feel like a million bucks during and after meditation. Other days I feel inundated with thoughts that seem to bring more stress into my life.
