Kriya Yoga

Postby Frank Molignano » Thu Jan 28, 2010 6:16 am

Hello everyone,

I recently picked up Autobigoraphy of a Yogi and was introduced to the practice of Kriya yoga, which they so often mention.

Though I have done minimal research on it, I am very curious to your views on the subject.

Hi Frank,

If you want to do Kriya Yoga I would certainly recommend spending some time with somebody who has practiced it for a while as the book information is is limited - there is a lot of between the lines practical advice that will benefit you

It is traditionally taught in silence (for the student) no talking, reading or writing . I learnt it whilst on a 3 month full time yoga meditation course, the kriya yoga teaching commenced after a cleansing period of 6 weeks and we learnt it over 33 days (in silence).

It is a great system for working with the Kundalini and balances the bodies energy when done on a regular basis - and being vegetarian enables you to work more easily with the Subtle energies.

The classic sequence takes over 3 hours, I would recommend the full sequence once a wee and the Mala bead kriyas every day.

If your ultimate goal is to raise the Kundalani I would recommend balancing your system with Kriya yoga and then find a guru that can give you true kundalaini mantra - I learnt more about Kundalini with a mantra in 2 months than I did in 2 years of Kriya Yoga.

Good luck!

Kriya means action. Our general idea is that by living a life centered on God, we can raise our consciousness and achieve self-realization. Our main practice engaged in meditation. We practice pranayama taught by our team of gurus.
